So much for ICE merely “assisting” TSA skeleton crews with the Trump-created airport chaos.
As we reported, Angelina Lopez-Jimenez, a Guatemalan woman, was violently arrested at San Francisco International Airport on Sunday—as her nine-year-old sobbed in front of her—hours before Trump unleashed ICE agents at 14 airports nationwide.
Now we know how, and why, this terror occurred.
As I reported this morning (watch my video above), the New York Times reports ICE agents were tipped off—by TSA agents—that Lopez-Jiminez was an expected passenger on a Miami-bound flight two days before her flight.
She had no criminal history and had been in America for years.
From the New York Times:
Ms. Lopez-Jimenez, 41, a native of Guatemala, and her daughter, Wendy Godinez-Lopez, were flagged by T.S.A. officials on Friday when they showed up on a passenger list for a Sunday flight from San Francisco to Miami. The agency then tipped off Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to the documents.
Ms. Lopez-Jimenez and her daughter were living in Contra Costa County, Calif., on the eastern edge of the San Francisco Bay Area, according to the congressman for that region, John Garamendi. She had no criminal history, though she entered the country illegally.
Far from merely deploying to airports to assist beleaguered TSA agents with nightmarish security lines, Trump and co-president Stephen Miller are clearly pulling a bait and switch; one in which they move their terror campaign against immigrants from the streets into airport terminals.
And honestly, do we really believe TSA agents, currently unpaid while their ICE counterparts enjoy their lavish salaries, have a choice in the matter to provide ICE with names, birthdays, and other data if their passenger lists include people suspected of being undocumented?
They’re already weeks into going without a paycheck during a partial government shutdown. In many cases, TSA agents are being forced to pick up odd jobs after their airport shifts in order to keep a roof over their families’ heads and food in their kids bellies. Essentially, TSA agents are being added to the ever-growing list of Donald Trump’s pawns.
Judging by the last year’s deadly ICE terror campaign—which we have covered ON-THE-GROUND across America—this will not stop at immigrants. The longer this government shutdown continues, the more likely it is that ICE begins wrongfully attacking and detaining U.S. citizens inside airports (especially those with the wrong color or accent).
Beyond the alarm of our airports morphing into miniature SS checkpoints, we are watching a dangerous clown show before our eyes.
