Another day, another group of unhinged MAGA jerks violently threatening our journalists with disgusting behavior.

During a protest in New York City on Wednesday, Sept. 9, an unnamed Trump supporter berated and spat on Status Coup’s videojournalist Jon Farina while he was covering an anti-Zohran Mamdani march timed to take place shortly before the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
“Your mother should be r*ped by a f*cking Muslim,” a deranged Trump supporter screamed at Farina—who was simply recording the marchers.

This is another example of the depraved lengths MAGA supporter will stoop to while journalists like Jon engage in their First Amendment right—completely unprovoked.
Here’s what happened: Jon was dutiful in his coverage, and while he was filming, one dramatic MAGA bro spat on him completely unprovoked. Quickly following that disturbing display, a local NYPD officer removed Jon from the fray for his safety. We’re happy to report that Jon is OK and safe at home.
Moments like this don’t get to Jon — he is the photojournalist who captured the harrowing moments when Capitol Hill Officer Daniel Hodges rammed into the door on Jan. 6, 2021, as the Trump mob crushed Jon, nearly breaking his ribs.
