BREAKING: Trump's ICE Ending Minnesota Terror Campaign
After 2 months under siege by Trump's masked lawless ICE & Border Patrol agents—and Minnesotans brave peaceful fight back—Border Czar announces the Minnesota surge is ending. But DON'T BE FOOLED!
***Status Coup has been reporting ON THE GROUND in Minneapolis for NEARLY 2 MONTHS as Trump’s masked secret police terrorized immigrants, citizens, veterans, elders, and children. Our reporters have routinely being gassed and shot at by so-called “less lethal” ammunition. As an INDEPENDENTLY FUNDED outlet, we’ve spent over $30,000 to stay ON-THE-GROUND in Minneapolis…and we believe it MADE A DIFFERENCE! To be direct, we need more financial support to continue reporting ON THE GROUND to cover Trump’s immigration terror and more. SUPPORT US as a paying member for as low as $5 bucks a month!***
This morning, President Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan announced ICE is ending its two-month lawless terror campaign in Minnesota: “I have proposed, and President Trump has concurred, that this surge operation conclude,” Homan announced during a Minneapolis press conference, adding that ICE is not “backing down” from immigration enforcement or the promise of “mass deportations.”
In response, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz demanded the federal government “pay for what they broke here” and noted that President Trump and his secret police have inflicted generational trauma on Minnesotans.
WATCH above our reporter JT Cestkowski break the news.
First and foremost, as horrific this terror campaign has been—and STATUS COUP HAS BEEN ON THE GROUND TO COVER NEARLY ALL OF IT since December—this is a story of a moral, courageous, and resilient community peacefully fighting back. Without the thousands and thousands of Minnesotans protesting, organizing, and working together to protect one another from the unidentified, masked thugs who turned their streets into a game of Call of Duty, this retreat from the Trump administration would have never happened.
Without weeks worth of daily protests, daily networks of residents blowing whistles in the streets to warn their neighbors of income ICE raids, without brave residents braving subzero cold—and gas and grenades being launched at them—the Trump administration would have never retreated.
And tragically, without two U.S. citizens being executed on video by Trump’s secret police, and the overwhelming outrage and protest in response by Minnesotans, there is no way the national tide—and polls—would have turned as quickly against Trump and ICE.
As positive and encouraging as this news is, we should also make sure Americans, and Minnesotans don’t completely drop their guard. Mainstream media will quickly move on as they always do…
But Status Coup will not. There are still imminent threats and need for financial reparation:
Who will be held accountable, and how, for all the Minnesotans who were illegally detained— with no due process—and sent who knows where?
Who will be held accountable, and how, for all the U.S. citizens whose cars were rammed into, who were beaten by ICE or Border Patrol agents, and illegally detained in some cases for days?
How will families, community members, and attorneys be able to track and/or find all of their immigrant neighbors who’ve been abducted?
Who is going to pay the hundreds, if not thousands, of business owners who had to shut down their businesses—placing their businesses at risk as well as them at risk of housing eviction—because both their workers and customers were too scared to leave their housers?
Who is going to address the permanent trauma inflicted on Minnesotas children—who’ve watched in fear and confusion as their schools, neighborhoods, and communities have been under siege by masked men carrying guns?
On top of these questions, given our coverage of Trump’s ICE/Border Patrol terror campaign for nearly a year—in LA, NYC, D.C., Alligator Alcatraz, Chicago, Charlotte, and Minneapolis—it would be naive to believe that Minnesota was the final target of Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, and Tom Homan. If President Trump is consistent on one thing, it is routinely launching mass distraction campaigns—particularly when his onslaught of corrupt scandals (like the Epstein Files) heats up.
So, it is not out of the question that ICE and Border Patrol operations will remain at some level in Minnesota—or shift to Democratic cities like New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, or a host of other cities. That’s why Status Coup will remain vigilant—and report ON-THE-GROUND wherever Trump’s paramilitary troops go next.
TO BE DIRECT: We are a small, independently funded outlet with no corporate sponsors or massive corporate donors. Our funding comes from average working class people. To report ON-THE-GROUND in Minnesota for nearly 2 months, we’ve spent over $30,000 between our payroll (reporters, camera people) along with travel costs (flights, hotels, rent-a-car, equipment, food, etc). As a small independent outlet, we need to GROW OUR PAID MEMBERSHIP in order to continue funding this reporting and paying our staff. I believe it when I see it. They lie all the time. Actions speak louder than words.
Keep strong Minnesota! Most of us know ICE won't truly leave. Some new distraction the administration throws at us will turn the gaze (& support) away. Minnesota Strong!
