Will You Help Fund 2 STRAIGHT WEEKS of Our On-The-Ground Toxic Tour Reporting? Our Flint-Kalamazoo-East Palestine Trip Starts Next Week
Jordan Chariton will go to Flint for 9-year-anniversary of ONGOING water crisis—then Kalamazoo MI on a multi-billion dollar company poisoning the city. Louis DeAngelis then reports from East Palestine
Next week, Status Coup hits the road for 2 weeks of our ON-THE-GROUND TOXIC TOUR reporting trip on the stories corporate media abandoned or never covered in the first place. All together, Jordan Chariton will be reporting in Flint and Kalamazoo Michigan followed by Louis DeAngelis returning to East Palestine to keep covering the disastrous aftermath of the Norfolk Southern derailment and “controlled burn.”
For two straight weeks of reporting—including flights, hotels, parking, rent-a-cars, food, and paying freelancers—we estimate a cost of at least $6-8,000. As far as we know, Status Coup is the only independent media outlets consistently covering stories in-the-trenches. Doing so helps us break more news that mainstream media would never bother to even investigate, and even more importantly, give normal everyday people—in forgotten communities—a microphone to share their stories.
You can help fund this reporting trip—and future ones—by signing up as a Status Coup member today.
Our goal is to add 100-150 new paying members over these next two weeks. If 150 viewers sign up at either $5 or $10 bucks a month, this would amount to enough ongoing revenue to afford an extra reporting trip every month.
If you’re already a Status Coup member, you can also support this reporting trip with a donation.
Reporting Trip Details
Flint
First up, Jordan Chariton makes his 19th reporting trip to Flint Michigan—this time to cover the 9-year-anniversary of the ongoing water crisis. Did you know water lead levels have been recently rising in Flint? Or that, 9 years later, all of the corroded water distribution pipes have not been replaced? Or that residents are STILL developing body rashes from the water? Or that residents are still receiving smelly and/or discolored water? We’re betting the answer is no, to all or most of these questions, since the corporate media stopped covering Flint years ago (after regurgitating highly dubious claims from the Michigan politicians and the EPA declaring the water safe again).

Kalamazoo Michigan
Jordan will go to Kalamazoo Michigan to cover toxic gases that are predominately polluting, and sickening, the Black part of the city (but has recently begun affecting wealthier white areas). The gases have been continually released by Graphic Packaging International—a multi-billion dollar international corporate conglomerate—leading residents to grow sicker and sicker and in some cases die. Despite years of complaints from residents, in 2021, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s administration approved a deal that greenlit $125 million bond deal for Graphic Packaging to expand its Kalamazoo plant.

East Palestine
Not surprisingly, the corporate media covered the East Palestine disaster for about a week and quickly moved back to covering substance-less BS. Unlike them, Status Coup has LED on ongoing coverage of this disaster. Specifically, Louis DeAngelis has broken major stories ON-THE-GROUND in East Palestine showing that the federal EPA, Ohio EPA, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, and Norfolk Southern are lying to the residents of East Palestine through shoddy air-water-soil testing and other dubious claims and marketing schemes. Every day, Louis has kept in contact with sick and struggling residents—who continue to develop body rashes from the city’s water, suffer with nausea, dizziness, burning eyes, sinus issues, coughing, fatigue, and other serious health symptoms from the Petri dish of toxicants they were exposed to. We can’t get into it in detail, but Louis and Jordan have been digging and investigating behind-the-scenes on a MAJOR aspect to this story—specifically about the details of the February 3rd derailment and February 6th “controlled burn.” We don’t have anything to report YET on this front, but as Louis makes his third reporting trip to East Palestine in two months, he hopes to gather more information ON-THE-GROUND.
WATCH our latest bombshell exposing that the CDC has been urging doctors/healthcare providers not to test East Palestine residents for exposure to the highly toxic cancer-causing chemical Vinyl Chloride.
Sincerely,
Jordan
