We're Headed Back to Cover the Fight Against Cop City!
Tina-Desiree Berg and Jon Farina will be ON-THE-GROUND in Atlanta Georgia this week/weekend.
Hey folks, it’s Jordan.
Fascism; police assassination of non-violent protesters; non-violent protesters charged with domestic terrorism and locked up in in jail for months; environmental genocide; political corruption; and more treachery.
This horrible mixed cesspool are all prominent elements of the unholy alliance between the merger of police, politicians, and corporate America’s quest to create the militarized police compound in Atlanta Georgia called “Cop City.”
And that’s why Tina-Desiree Berg is headed BACK this week for her second reporting trip to Atlanta Georgia to cover the continued fight against Cop City (check out our previous reporting on Cop City).
Tina will be ON-THE-GROUND during a week of action among environmental activists and Forrest defenders. The protests are continuing after Atlanta’s City Council overruled the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of its constituents against the building of Cop City and voted in favor of funding it.
Frankly, this is one of the biggest stories in America—potentially even the world—that unsurprisingly is being ignored by national mainstream media. Equally unsurprisingly, local Georgia media is covering the story by regurgitating what police and politicians tell them—framing peaceful protesters are “eco terrorists.”
This type of reporting is not only important, but VITAL. And to keep it real: it is expensive, paying for Tina, videojournalist Jon Farina, flights, hotel, rent-a-car, and food. If you can help us cover expenses for this trip directly, DONATE any amount! On average these trips cost between $3,000-$6,000 each time; if we can reach the goal of covering this trip, we will be able to keep up the pace of covering other important stories ON-THE-GROUND this summer and into the fall.
Donate ANY amount by clicking the buttons above or below, including setting up recurring donations for ANY amount from $1 up, and in any frequency! Thank you for your support so we can keep covering what the corporate media COVERS UP!
Sincerely,
Jordan
