UAW Strike Day 20: "I Question the American Dream Every Day"
Jordan interviewed striking workers at the Ford Assembly plant in Wayne Michigan—who had powerful words about the American "dream." SC has been ON-THE-GROUND for 20 straight days during the strike
Hey folks, it’s Jordan.
Today is Day 20 of the UAW strike—I’m proud to say we have been ON-THE-GROUND since Day 1. PLEASE IF YOU CAN SUPPORT this important, and EXPENSIVE, ON-THE-GROUND reporting.
Yesterday, I was LIVE interviewing workers at the strike picket line at Ford Assembly in Wayne Michigan on a searingly hot day. One of those workers—who between Ford, substitute teaching, and a cleaning business is often working 20 hours a day just to pay the bills—shared powerful words.
"I question the American dream every day. Whether it's a reality, whether it's real for us, whether it's real for anybody,” Eric, a temporary worker at Ford making $16.17 an hour, told me. Eric often works at Ford from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m, goes home for a few hour cat nap, and then goes in and serves as a substitute teacher from the morning through 3 p.m. That is a nearly 20 hour day (WATCH CLIP ABOVE).
“It’s something to think about,” Eric continued. “When we talk about the American dream and when the economy is doing well but you have the low working class is not doing so well. That doesn’t add up.”
Thank you so much for your continued support for our ON-THE-GROUND reporting on what I believe is the most important story in America in relation to the battered and bruised working class. We would like to remain on the road covering this strike but are running out of funding. If you appreciate and feel we need continued reporting from the FRONT LINES of the strike, support us for $5-10 bucks a month.

As always, thank you for your support to keeping us INDEPENDENT and ON-THE-GROUND.
