As Minneapolis protesters held a rowdy noise demonstration outside the Home2Suites by Hilton hotel ICE agents were staying at on January 25th, 2026, federal immigration and prison agents launched an all-out, war-like assault on them, shooting protesters—at point blank range—with so-called “less lethal” bullets and releasing a blitz of tear gas and flash bang grenades as protesters and journalists ran for safety (watch our video report above).

Status Coup reporter Tina-Desiree Berg and videojournalist Jon Farina were reporting ON THE GROUND outside the hotel—when federal agents attacked protesters and the press alike using an alarming mix of chemical and “less lethal” ammunition.

In one instance, a federal agent fired a “less lethal” bean bag—from point blank range—at a protester (photo below).

“You know you shot someone with a bean bag at point blank range?” a protester asked the federal agent who just fired the so-called “less lethal” at protesters

“Now’s not the time!” the agent furiously snapped back.

**FYI: shooting “less lethals” from dangerously close distances can seriously injure—or kill—someone.**

Things only escalated further, as Border Patrol agents flooded the hotel—arriving in what looked like tanks. One of those agents then violently pushed our Tina-Desiree Berg to the ground. “I can’t breathe!” she screamed as tear gas engulfed her lungs (she didn’t have a mask on at the moment (watch video of Border Patrol attacking Tina below).

After shooting “less lethals” at protesters from point blank range, the OUT-OF-CONTROL federal agent then demanded for the press to show their credentials.

“Show me your press credentials!” he screamed at the large crowd of journalists—all of whom already had PRESS clearly labeled on their helmets or vests.

“Press, press!” several journalist can be heard screaming as these LAWLESS federal agents pointed long-guns at them.
