Bottomline: there’s a ton of outlets and groups out there constantly begging you for money, but how many of them, corporate or independent, have been ON-THE-GROUND in Chicago for nearly 3 weeks covering Trump’s brutal ICE invasion—while being tear gassed multiple times and targeted?

Our reporter JT Cestkowski and video journalist Jon Farina have been in Chicago for nearly 3 weeks covering the violence and terror being perpetrated by ICE and border patrol agents as if they’re playing out the Call of Duty video game. Both JT and Jon have been tear gassed and had stun grenades and flash bangs fired at them (while logging 15-16 hour days for several weeks).

As a small independent outlet, keeping reporters in Chicago for nearly 3 weeks—including flights, equipment needs, and daily hotels and food—costs a lot of money.

We’ve already spent over $6,000 to stay in Chicago for 3 weeks—which doesn’t include our monthly costs of paying me, new reporter JT, our great new producer Michelle, editor/producer Colin, video journalist Jon, and other fixed monthly costs.

I’d like to keep JT and Jon ON-THE-GROUND there—and have the ability to switch to cover other cities facing Trump’s invasion in this moment of rising fascism. But the reality is: we PROUDLY don’t have a major corporation funding us and are funded by YOU THE PEOPLE.
