TRIPLE WHAMMY of Economic Terrorism!
ON-THE-GROUND reporting from Jordan Chariton and Jason Peters exposes the ongoing 40-YEAR-INFLATION mainstream media ignores...gentrification
Hey folks, it’s Jordan.
Last week, on our 3-state, 10-day swing state reporting trip, we reported on horrid, urgent economic terrorism—i.e. gentrification—ravaging the working class and minorities across the country.
In Philadelphia, independent journalist Jason Peters spoke with community members in the Chinatown neighborhood of Philadelphia that are facing impending dislocation due to a proposed $1.3 billion new NBA stadium for the Philadelphia 76ers. “Chinatown is 150 years old and I do believe we are the oldest sustained ethnic enclave in the city…” Deborah Wei, a resident of Chinatown, said to Peters about the damage the new mega stadium would do to this minority community.
In Detroit, I spoke with LONGTIME Democratic Party supporters who have grown FED UP with gentrification and tax scams—which are being enabled by corrupt Democratic politicians. “We get billionaire developers coming into thsi city having playgrounds, and stadiums, and concert venues, and all kinds of apartments, and luxury lofts that the citizens can’t even afford to visit let alone pay the rent,” Sylvia McClinton told Jordan. “While they are taking the taxes away from our school systems, our communities where people need housing, healthcare, repairs on their homes…not getting it. It just doesn’t make any sense.”
In Detroit, I spoke with Brother Michael Cunningham, a longtime transportation activist fighting to improve the city’s horribly inadequate transportation system—that he firmly believes is intentionally causing delays. “It’s gentrification on steroids; it’s a recipe, and a big part of the recipe is to keep public transportation inadequate, to make people feel uncomfortable, to make people feel they’re better off going to the suburbs or they’re better off going to another state…and then you buy up the land cheap.
