The Biden Cover Up Actively Sickening Americans
For 2 years, we've exposed the Biden administration cover-up of Norfolk Southern's poisoning of East Palestine, OH/western PA. Bombshell new emails show we were right.
Over two years ago, a multi-billion dollar railroad company unnecessarily chemically nuked—and sacrificed—an entire region of America, poisoning an untold number of Americans in the name of profit.
And after Norfolk Southern poisoned East Palestine, Ohio and western Pennsylvania, the Biden administration’s response to the alarming number of sick residents was…nothing to see here.
As Status Coup has reported since the Norfolk Southern derailment and chemical detonation in February 2023—including eight on-the-ground reporting trips there—everything was not fine. Soon after the uncontrolled chemical detonation of nearly 1 million pounds of toxic, cancer-causing vinyl chloride, we began breaking bombshell reports clearly showing that the EPA, CDC, and other agencies, seemingly in service of Norfolk Southern, were misleading residents as they grew sicker from the massive chemical mushroom cloud detonated over their homes.
Now, new emails, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, back up what we reported. As NewsNation reported, private communications between Biden administration officials show that while the administration was publicly giving the “all clear” message to the residents of East Palestine and western Pennsylvania, privately they were acknowledging major health risks for residents (as well as a coordinated plan to avoid engaging with them).
“The occurrence of a cancer-cluster in EP is not net zero,” Jim McPherson, FEMA’s Federal Disaster Recovery Coordinator, wrote over a year after the derailment/detonation to officials in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) department. He added: “As you all are aware, the first 48 hours of the fire created a really toxic plume.”
The private acknowledgment, by a top FEMA official, that a surge cancer within Ohio and Pennsylvania communities was possible was the polar opposite of the public messaging (lies) from the CDC and EPA; both agencies continually claimed that their air, water, and soil testing in East Palestine and western Pennsylvania was not detecting chemical levels of concern (while independent testing showed concerning levels of chemical contamination).
They also gaslit residents by telling them that their long list of health issues could not be definitively tied to the derailment/detonation.
The private acknowledgement, by the the top FEMA official, that the “fire created a really toxic plume” was dramatically different than the public messaging (lies) that the detonation of the vinyl chloride rail tankers was done as a responsible “controlled burn” that caused minimal threat to the local community.
McPherson also privately discussed developing a “plan to identify Pre-Cancer clusters,” which once again was a stark departure from the administration’s public proclamations that there was no troubling testing results, or evidence, to suggest their long list of health ailments were tied to the chemical Petri dish that was launched over their community.
There was also Mark Durno, the EPA’s on-scene coordinator in East Palestine—who Status Coup’s reporting exposed as privately contradicting the EPA’s public claims—asking his colleagues if the EPA was testing home furnace filters (and asking why not if they weren’t).
In Durno’s email, he pointed out independent testing in East Palestine, conducted by independent tester Scott Smith, was detecting dioxins, highly toxic chemicals, in home furnace filters.
Yet publicly—like in the case of the Flint water crisis when Durno played the same on-scene role—Durno continually preached “nothing to see here.” As residents have relayed to Status Coup, Durno continually told residents that the EPA’s testing is showing their air, water, and soil is safe; he also gaslit them that their was no clear tie between the derailment/detonation and their illnesses.
Biden administration emails also showed a clear intent, and decision, not to directly engage with concerned—and sick—residents.
“The state does not want me to participate in the 3 November community meeting at this time,” McPherson wrote eight months after the derailment/detonation about Ohio officials not wanting FEMA officials to attend a community meeting with sick residents. He added that he was getting calls from the “vocal local community”—i.e. poisoned residents the Biden administration was leaving to slowly die—but that he had “been advised not to engage with the public” until a so-called long-term recovery plan was formulated.
Unsurprisingly, right-wing media outlets are jumping on this anti-Biden scandal (and it is a scandal). Equally unsurprising, the rest of the mainstream media, couldn’t care less about evidence that a president and his administration decided to sacrifice an entire community—seemingly at the behest of a multi-billion dollar railroad company (and its owners Vanguard and BlackRock).
As the partisan news coverage, and non-coverage, comes and eventually fades, hundreds—perhaps thousands—of innocent Americans in Ohio and Pennsylvania will continue to suffer with a staggering list of health issues including:
Cancer
Seizures
Strokes
Kidney issues
Nose bleeds
Blood in urine
Bloody stool
Body tingling
Tingling lips, numb lips
Eye pain, burning eyes, red eyes, blurred vision
Dementia
Headaches, migraines
Feeling delirious, feeling drunk
Dizziness
Fatigue
Hair loss, burning scalp
Early puberty in boys, premature menstrual cycles in young girls
Memory loss, forgetfulness, confusion, decreased alertness
Depression, anxiety, PTSD
This may be a Biden cover-up—and his administration officials should be held accountable—but Donald Trump and J.D. Vance are now president and vice president.
Although I am highly suspect they will do any of the following, they have the power, and responsibility, to change the narrative to the truth: East Palestine and swaths of western Pennsylvania are severely chemically contaminated and residents who want to be permanently relocated should be aided in doing so at the expense of the government and/or Norfolk Southern (as well as affected local businesses to be taken care of financially).
Trump and Congress should also provide lifetime free healthcare for these residents—who sadly have an uncertain future ahead filled with health issues. They need free treatment, and testing, for the rest of their lives (and while they’re at it, do the same for Flint, Michigan residents who are still receiving toxic water 11 years later).
There should also be a criminal investigation, and charges, against Norfolk Southern officials, EPA officials, and any other government or corporate entities that recklessly allowed the unnecessary detonation of an unprecedented volume of toxic chemicals.
If Trump wants to “Make America Great Again,” he can start by making East Palestine and western Pennsylvania as close to whole as possible.

Remember all Libby Montana residents were given forever Medicare enrollments. The government and Max Baucas KNOW that this is the cheapest longterm solution to this type of toxic pollution.
I remember Shelly, I think that was her name, an East Palestine resident found a human tongue in her house while all this was unfolding. Just weird ! I wish I knew more about that. Prayers to the residents, who don't have the means to leave. Why should they though, they should feel safe in their own community.
