NO One is Above the Law

Crime doesn’t pay. Illegal or dishonest actions do not lead to lasting success or benefit, because the negative consequences & punishment will always outweigh any short-term gains.

A reminder…

“Over 40 government officials, including top White House aides and the burglars themselves, were indicted or jailed following the Watergate Scandal.

G. Gordon Liddy: White House aide and organizer of the break-in; served nearly 52 months in federal prison.

E. Howard Hunt: White House "Plumber" and co-planner; served 33 months in prison.

James W. McCord Jr.: Security director for the Committee to Re-elect the President (CREEP) and former CIA agent; served 4 months.

The Burglars (Virgilio González, Eugenio Martínez, Frank Sturgis, and Bernard Barker): Convicted of conspiracy, burglary, and wiretapping, serving between 12 to 15 months.

Key administration officials convicted of charges including conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and perjury received prison sentences ranging from 4 to 19 months.

This group included Attorney General John Mitchell, Chief of Staff H.R. Haldeman, and Chief Domestic Advisor John Ehrlichman, as well as aides like John Dean, Charles Colson, and Jeb Magruder.”
