Media Blackout on Potential Poisoning of America's Vegetable Supply
Status Coup has led the way covering the potential contamination of the farms that produce 70 percent of America's vegetable supply
As you’ll see below, our INDEPENDENT ON-THE-GROUND reporting—on the growing list of corporate sacrifice zones making Americans sick and jeopardizing the rest of us—is more crucial then ever. We are CLOSE to being able to finally look for and hire a second full-time reporter. But we need your help. Can you help us get there by signing up as a paying Status Coup member for as low as $5-10 bucks a month? If we can sign up a couple hundred more free viewers, we’ll reach our goal.
Hey folks, it’s Jordan.
We just wrapped up our latest ON-THE-GROUND reporting trip, this time with our Tina-Desiree Berg reporting in Northern California on the ONGOING public health and agricultural disaster born from the massive Vistra Lithium battery plant fire that erupted in mid January—and still sickening residents weeks laters with nose bleeds, headaches, chemical burns, dizziness, fatigue, and metallic taste in their mouth.
Of course, the Trump 2.0 wrecking ball has understandably dominated coverage, but I am genuinely STUNNED that the lithium shower spraying heavy metals/toxic chemicals over the “Salad Bowl of America”—the Northern California farming area that produces 70% of America’s vegetables and a lot of our fruits—is barely getting any media attention.
Hell, the New York Times FINALLY covered it this morning with the meek headline “A California Battery Plant Burned. Residents Have Gotten Sick, and Anxious” and…
BARELY mentioned the likelihood that the biggest regional producer for the OVERWHELMING AMOUNT OF ALL OF OUR VEGETABLES has likely been contaminated.
Here is the story’s first mention of contamination (in the fifth paragraph of the story)
Here is the second mention (in second to last paragraph with a focus on the economy)
No wonder the majority of Americans are completely in the dark on the growing list of corporate sacrifice zones POISONING their fellow Americans…major outlets like the New York Times—when they even bother to cover it—completely minimize and whitewash the truth!
In contrast, Status Coup EXPOSES the truth.
Here’s Tina-Desiree Berg with a local resident showing BURNS ON HER HANDS that developed the morning after the fire.
Here’s our Tina-Desiree Berg speaking with local residents—standing next to the plant—decrying the fact that the rest of the country has no idea that this disaster has happened.
Here’s Tina interviewing a local Monterey County politician—one of the few seemingly genuine ones—as he called to shut down the lithium plant until the company can prove they can safely start back up.
Time and time again, Status Coup is one of the only news outlets ON THE GROUND covering these stories. This in-the-trenches reporting is expensive and takes a lot of resources; we try to do as much as we can with the limited funding we have. That’s where YOU come in. Believe it or not, the more viewers who sign up as paying members—for as low as $5 bucks a month—the more consistent coverage we can provide on these types of important stories.
Let’s keep waking up the masses.
