Status Coup reporter JT Cestkowski is LIVE in Wisconsin as the protests continue following the police killing of Corey Ruiz earlier this week.

They are demanding justice and reform to a system that has allowed this same thing to happen before, and we’ll be covering the protest and talking to residents about what they think.
Ruiz was shot and killed after being detained by Madison Police Department Officers, who say he injured one of the arresting officers with “a fix-blade knife” and resisted arrest before being shot, according to a Madison Police Department Facebook post from July 22. The post goes on to say that officers attempted to use a taser on Ruiz first, “but it was unsuccessful.” The officers are now on administrative leave. The investigation remains active.
Famed Civil Rights and defense attorney Ben Crump has been retained by the Ruiz family to represent them in the ongoing investigation.
