Jordan's "We the Poisoned" Wins Book Award for Journalism & Investigative Reporting

"We The Poisoned: Exposing the Flint Water Crisis Cover Up and the Poisoning of 100,000 Americans" wins the Silver medal in the Nautilus Book Awards!

Hey folks, it’s Jordan.

Excited to share my 2024 book, "We The Poisoned: Exposing the Flint Water Crisis Cover Up and the Poisoning of 100,000 Americans,” was a silver winner for the Nautilus Book Awards!

This means my book exposing the Flint water cover-up beat out hundreds of other entries to earn runner up for the best book in the journalism and investigative reporting category. The book, which is based on my nine years of reporting on Flint, exposed a sprawling government cover-up that led to the poisoning of Flint, including: political payoffs, destruction of evidence, witness tampering, surveillance of Flint residents, and more.

I wrote this book because, based on my reporting, the Flint water crisis is the biggest government cover-up of the 21st century—one that is ONGOING and STILL killing residents 11 years later. Despite false claims by the government and media, Flint STILL has toxic water in many parts of the city. The city also has:

• Surging cancer rates as a result of residents consuming poisonous water

• All of the corroded/damages water pipes have not been replaced over a decade later

• Not one government official is in prison for their role in poisoning the city (and likely never will be)

• Residents haven’t yet gotten one dime from an already insufficient $600 million legal settlement ($200 million of which is going to lawyers).

• National and local Michigan media have declared the crisis over and stopped covering/investigating years ago.

The above is a big reason I wrote the book—I do not think the poisoning of Americans, the government covering it up, and then leaving residents to slowly die—should be normalized. It is not normal and, if we allow communities like Flint to be swept under the rug, the same types of corruption and environmental disasters will head to a town near you next…

Which as Status Coup routinely covers, they already are (East Palestine train derailment/chemical detonation, Kalamazoo toxic paper mill, Central California lithium battery fire, Georgia BioLab Fire, etc).

I’m not done—and we’re not done—reporting on Flint and many other communities being victimized by government and corporate corruption.
