We are excited to announce the launch of “Status Sunday”—our special weekly Sunday livestream premiering tomorrow from 1-3 p.m. eastern/10 a.m.-12 p.m. pacific. For the inaugural episode, yours truly and Ashley Bishop will co-host.

Status Sunday will be our weekly Sunday show, with rotating hosts and guests, with the goal of:

• Covering stories that are falling through the cracks of mainstream and independent media.

• Spotlighting our UNIQUE, ON-THE-GROUND reporting that only SC is consistently doing.

• Being more interactive with our audience, including taking viewer calls.

• Have some fun with cool sound effects, merchandise giveaways and more!

• A WEEKLY PAID MEMBERSHIP DRIVE TO SIGN UP NEW SC PAYING MEMBERS

I all-capitalized and bolded that last bullet because, as always, I try to keep it real. As Status Coup grows—close to 450,000 YouTube subscribers!—our expenses grow with it. Our new reporter Ashley Bishop has been kicking ass and taking names over the last few months; as we expand with her, we also are seeking to hire badly- needed roles including a content producer, social media producer, and additional video editors. And with our current expenses—myself, Ashley, Colin, Jon, freelance hosts and reporters, hefty fixed monthly costs (including nearly $12K a year for our LiveU broadcasting unit that allows us to go live on-the-ground) and SIGNIFICANT travel costs—we either significantly grow our paid membership or have to scale back.
