Cornel West JOINS UAW Strike, Blasts Biden's "Symbolic Gesture" & Greedy Bosses
Our Tina-Desiree Berg interviews Dr. West from the strike picket line at Ford plant in Wayne Michigan
On our 13th straight day ON-THE-GROUND covering the historic UAW auto strike against Ford, GM, and Stellantis, our Tina-Desiree Berg interviewed Dr. Cornel West, who walks the picket line in support of striking UAW workers at the Ford plant in Wayne Michigan.
"I can't stand greedy bosses, I can't stand profit-obsessed owners that treat workers as if they're less than human,” West told Desiree-Berg. The Green Party candidate for president also offered thoughts on President Biden walking the picket line on Tuesday.
“Symbolic gestures, ther’re empty if you don’t follow through. He broke the back of railway worker strikes already. He’s been rationalizing corporate greed for the last 35 years; so it’s nice for him to come and to say some words and things—but we need more than pretty words. You got to follow through, we’re talking about issues of life and death, we talking about issues of dignity, and we’re talking about issues of benefits and wages because the workers have been ripped off.”
