Cops Arrest 76-Year-Old Grandma Protesting Cop City Funder Home Depot
"That's ridiculous," longtime Atlanta activist Lorraine Fontana says while being aggressively handcuffed. She was held overnight at Fulton County jail on $1,500 bond
The growing fascism being perpetrated against peaceful protesters opposing the gargantuan militarized police compound known as Cop City got more brazen on Thursday when between 40 and 50 police officers swarmed #StopCopCity protesters demonstrating outside one of the Cop City funders Home Depot.
Our Tina-Desiree Berg and Jon Farina were ON-THE-GROUND reporting when police aggressively arrested a longtime Atlanta activist, 76-year-old grandma Lorraine Fontana, for allegedly trespassing on the premises of Home Depot (watch below).

"I was not told that, that it was private property and I couldn't go inside,” Fontana told police as they handcuffed her. “I did not get told that...I was not told then when I was walked up to and I was just cuffed. That's ridiculous.”
Fontana was held at Fulton County Jail overnight and held on $1,500 bond. Independent videojournalist Jon Farina was outside the jail overnight as #StopCopCity protesters demonstrated in support of Lorraine and demanded her release.
“This is just so unnecessary,” Bobbie Paul, another local activist and friend of Fontana, told Status Coup. “It’s just more the boys with the toys and the military industrial complex at work again. And that’s why a lot of people are fighting Cop City.”

Cop City is such a bad idea it boggles the mind that Atlanta area residents and politicians are not demandiing an end to this project. Someone should be personally held accountable for the police violence and strongarm tactics at the site. Until that happens, more trouble will occur.
