BREAKING: UAW Strike EXPANDS With 7,000 More Workers, Jordan Going LIVE From GM Assembly in Lansing MI
On Day 15 of strike, UAW President Shawn Fain announced Ford Assembly in Chicago and GM Assembly in Lansing MI will go on strike. No additional Stellantis plants after company sweetened offer
Hey folks, it’s Jordan. I’m in the passenger seat as Jon drives us to Lansing MI to go LIVE soon from the GM Delta Assembly plant in Lansing Michigan.
This plant, and the Ford Assembly plant in Chicago—and the 7,000 workers between the two—were just added to UAW’s strike against Ford, GM, and Stellantis. In total, 25,000 UAW workers are now on strike.
STATUS COUP HAS BEEN THE ONLY OUTLET OUT ON THE GROUND EVERY DAY OF THE 15 SAY STRIKE. This is important, and expensive, on-the-scene reporting. ON-THE-ROAD for 15 days we’ve already spent nearly $7K between paying reporters, cameraman, flights, hotels, rent-a-car, and food. KEEP US OUT HERE by signing up as a member for $5-10 bucks a month.
UAW President Shawn Fain did not expand the strike against Stellantis; in fact, he was nearly a half hour late starting his update broadcast this morning because, at the last minute, Stellantis improved its offer to reinstate cost of living adjustments for workers among other improvements to their offer. This means that after 2 weeks of striking, UAW has forced both Ford and Stellantis to reinstate cost-of-living adjustments—a major victory for the union (one that so-called auto experts in the media said they wouldn’t win). GM is still lobbing lowball offers.
We will be reporting LIVE all weekend from Michigan AND Chicago. Thank you for supporting this important reporting. If you’re already a paying member, we also appreciate your DONATIONS to help fund this trip.
Remember: most people in this country are not lacking compassion—most people have no fu**ing idea what the hell is going on all around them.
