After Status Coup broke news on Friday that Amazon management at the ALB1 warehouse near Albany refused to evacuate workers for several hours despite a suspected gas leak that left many workers feeling nauseous and dizzy, between 10 and 15 members of Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) and Amazon’s Regional Safety arrived at the warehouse Wednesday morning to inspect and talk to workers about the incident Friday.
“We are flooded at ALB1 with regional safety and OSHA,” ALB1 worker Heather Goodall revealed in a video on Wednesday. She gave a special shout out to Status Coup for breaking the story.

IN CASE YOU MISSED: As this story was developing on Friday, January 5th, our Jordan Chariton interviewed Amazon workers as the company left them waiting outside in the freezing cold for two hours—instead of sending them home. As Status Coup reported yesterday, despite Amazon safety workers calling for an evacuation as early as 10:30 a.m. eastern—amidst a strong gas odor making workers ill—Amazon’s General Manager refused to evacuate the building for an hour-and-a-half. The building was finally evacuated at noon eastern after a worker, not management, called the fire department. Once the fire department arrived, they immediately pulled the fire alarm.
As Status Coup reported, in the wake of Amazon’s recklessness, ALB1 General Manager Nicholas Schlatz sent out an internal damage control email lying about the whole incident.
