Border Patrol ATTACKS, Gasses Our Reporter
"What the f*ck is wrong with you?!?" our Tina-Desiree Berg shouts after BP agent tossed her to the ground. They then released tear gas. "I can't breathe!" she struggled. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
***Status Coup has reported ON THE GROUND FOR MONTHS covering Trump’s ICE terror and protests against fascism in LA, NYC, Alligator Alcatraz, Chicago, Charlotte, & now Minneapolis. This reporting is VERY important, VERY expensive, and we are INDEPENDENTLY funded. We need you to continue. SUPPORT us for as low as $5 bucks a month***
Status Coup reporter Tina-Desiree Berg and videojournalist Jon Farina were reporting ON THE GROUND in Minneapolis on January 25th, 2026 outside the Home2Suites by Hilton Hotel where anti-ICE protesters were conducting noise demonstration against the ICE agents that were staying at the hotel (watch video above).
After several hours of protesting, which included protesters throwing snow and garbage into the hotel vestibule, federal immigration agents began attacking protesters and journalists with rubber bullets, tear gas, and other chemical ammunition.
As things escalated, federal agents attacked protesters, shooting one with rubber bullets at point-blank range. Then, a Border Patrol agent violently threw our reporter Tina-Desiree Berg to the ground as other agents deployed more tear gas.
“What the fuck is wrong with you!” Desiree Berg shouted as she lied injured on the ground. Federal agents then deployed tear gas. “I can’t breathe!” she said, struggling to breathe (she didn’t have on a gas mask at the time).
Fortunately, she is OK as is our videojournalist Jon Farina. But the dangers our crew face on a day-to-day basis covering President Trump’s violent federal invasion continue to grow.
***We have been ON-THE-GROUND in Minneapolis for nearly a month and will stay there AS LONG AS FUNDING ALLOWS….
This ON-THE-GROUND reporting is extremely important, increasingly MORE DANGEROUS, and EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE between flights, rent-a-car, hotels, food, equipment, and paying rotating reporters and cameramen). On top of our normal payroll, the travel costs associated with these reporting trips is costing us tens of thousands per month.
Most importantly, we are an INDEPENDENT outlet without corporate funding. If you value this reporting—if you depend on us—we sincerely ask you to SIGN UP TODAY as a paying member of Status Coup for as low as $5 bucks a month…that comes out to 16 cents a day.***

Let’s keep waking up the masses.

They can't control the narrative in Minneapolis because of the documentation infrastructure — legal observers, journalists, thousands of phones. So they're attacking the documenters directly.
You know why we have video of Renee Good's last words ("That's fine, dude. I'm not mad at you") and Alex Pretti's palm raised with a phone? Because Minneapolis built legal observer networks after 2020. The lies were debunked before the press conferences ended.
But ICE has killed 9 people in 2026. You know 2 names. The other 7 died in detention facilities designed to eliminate witnesses. One — Geraldo Lunas Campos at Fort Bliss — was ruled homicide by asphyxiation. A witness heard him say "I can't breathe" in Spanish while guards restrained him.
ICE is now trying to deport those witnesses before they can testify.
Rubber bullets and tear gas against journalists isn't a breakdown in discipline. It's the strategy. If they can't lie about the video, prevent the video from existing.
Thank you for being there. The documentation is the resistance.
I hope you are not injured! These goons only pick on defenseless citizens. They get a thrill out of it, which they probably take home to their partners.
