There has been a GEO Group detention center in Tacoma, WA for several years now, and EVERY year there's a hunger strike. There are reports of the food making some people sick, of dead bugs in the food, not being sent for medical treatment or sent too late, etc. Recently, the State of Washington has sued GEO over the fact that the State Dept of Health has attempted to visit the center 10 TIMES, and been refused entry. This week GEO group attempted to settle the case by saying that they would allow the Health Dept in, but they needed prior notice at least 2 weeks in advance of their visit....the State has not agreed. They want the visits to be at completely random times so they can see true conditions. The suit goes on. The GEO detention center is like a huge boil on the body of Wash State.

And I've read GEO Group's glowing reports about itself and its services online -- it's all BS.

I don’t understand how GEO gets a say in the matter. I don’t see how congress or states have a problem just filling a warrant and going in with cops if need be.

Oh, also....the detainees have mandatory cleaning duties in the Center - bathrooms, holding rooms, hallways, etc. The last time I heard about this the detainees weren't receiving ANY pay at all for the cleaning.

This is blatant fascism. How long will America let this go on? Land of the free and home of the brave? Not hardly.
